Clinical Institute of Occupational, Traffic and Sports Medicine

The Clinical Institute of Occupational, Traffic and Sports Medicine was founded in 1971 as an independent unit within the University Medical Centre, Ljubljana.

The Institute is in the process of registering as an independent public health institution and will change its name to 'Occupational Health Institute'.

Within the area of its specialist medical discipline and related research, the Institute is committed to providing preventive secondary and tertiary health care services to workers.

Recently, the Institute has begun to address issues dealt with by similar institutions in Europe and the world.

As a new member of the EU, Slovenia formulated its occupational health policy in accordance with the EU occupational health & safety policy.

Besides workplace health promotion, the Institute is concerned with occupational diseases, work capacity assessment, ergonomics, work physiology, traffic safety & health, industrial toxicology & hygiene, workplace epidemiology, psychology and humanisation of the workplace and sports medicine, organising professional meetings and training courses for occupational medicine specialists.
