The Romtens Foundation
The ROMTENS Foundation, a non-profit making organisation founded by a group of young medical doctors, hosts the Romanian NCO.
The aim of the Foundation is to make a positive contribution to the improvement of the populations' health by increasing the role played by health promotion as well as professionals working in the primary health care sector.
The Foundation is also working to encourage improvements in the efficiency and efficacy of health services by seeking to involve other NGO's and different medical and non-medical institutions in the development of local and regional networks.
Relevant activities that the Foundation is currently involved in include:
- Occupational Health - developing new models of good practice for Romanian enterprises, creating a national centre of reference for Occupational Health linked to a network of enterprises that have a strong component of Health Promotion
- Evaluating the population's health by analysing use of the health care system, together with the factors that influence use
- Promoting Health Education, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention programmes through the Primary Health Care Network
- Promoting leadership, development and organisation of Health Care Services
- Youth Health Education aiming to increase the level of knowledge regarding the healthy lifestyle.
In undertaking these activities the ROMTENS Foundation:
- Develops local and regional programmes
- Acts as the main Contractor in projects developed by international organisations
- Organises health studies, surveys and research in collaboration with specialized institutes
- Generates draft plans based on research studies
- Hosts workshops, conferences and seminars
- Organises courses for health professionals, youth representatives, pupils and teachers.
