Department of Health and Children /  Work Research Centre

The Work Research Centre (WRC) is a research and consultancy company specialising in the areas of work and health and work in the Information Society.

WRC has been involved in the area of WHP since 1990, at that time undertaking the first pan-European research into WHP. Since those early days, WRC has been involved in the development of training for WHP through the creation of a manual for training at EU level.

It has also developed a European Methodology for implementing WHP. WRC has also been active in the policy area and has contributed to the drafting of WHP policies at national and EU level.

Through Dr. Richard Wynne, WRC has been a founder member of the ENWHP together with the Health Promotion Unit of the Department of Health and Children.

During the 10 years of its existence WRC and the Health Promotion Unit have played a full role in all of the ENWHP initiatives. These initiatives have been used in Ireland and Northern Ireland as a means of publicising the role WHP can play and as a means of building up infrastructure and skills for WHP in Ireland.

The WRC and the Health Promotion Unit look forward to the continued strength of the ENWHP and to playing a full role in future developments.
