Hellenic Ministry of Employment and Social Protection

The Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (KYAE) - established in 1978 - is one of the Directorates of the Hellenic Ministry of Employment and Social Protection, under the General Directorate of Working Conditions and Health. The Centre's main activities include:

  • Applied research in various industrial sectors for the assessment of occupational risk and the determination of dangerous physical, chemical and biological agents
  • Technical assistance and advice to the Labour Inspectorate, through the provision of equipment and of technical instructions on the methods of sampling and analysis
  • Participation in working groups for the preparation of presidential decrees according to EU legislation
  • Participation in EU committees for legislative subjects
  • Information and training for Labour Inspectors, Safety Engineers, Occupational Physicians and Workers representatives on OH&S issues.

KYAE has been the National Contact Office of the ENWHP in Greece since 1996 and is also the National Centre for ILO - CIS (International Health & Safety Information Centre).
